FAQ

Imposter: Who's the Joker? is a pass-and-play party game for iPhone. You pass one phone around the table and everyone secretly looks at a card. Everyone gets the same secret word except one hidden player, the Joker, who has to bluff along. Then you talk it over and vote on who the Joker is.

Add the players and pass the iPhone around. Each player taps to flip their card in private: everyone sees the same secret word except the Joker, who only sees the category and, if you allow it, a vague hint. Take turns giving a one-word clue, talk it over, then vote. If the Joker gets caught, they get one last chance: name the secret word and they still win.

Between 3 and 20 players, all sharing one iPhone. The free version has no player limit.

No. The whole game runs on one iPhone and works fully offline, so it is good for road trips, camping and anywhere without a signal. The only time it goes online is when you buy or restore Premium through the App Store.

In Word mode everyone sees a secret word except the Joker, who only knows the category. In Question mode everyone answers the same question out loud, while the Joker has been given a different question and does not know it. When the answers come out, the one that sounds off gives the Joker away.

In chaos mode nobody knows how many Jokers there are this round. There could be one, several, or none at all, so you cannot relax once you think you have found one. Chaos mode is part of Premium.

Yes. The free game has 8 categories, 40 questions, Word and Question modes and no player limit. Premium is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks all 22 categories and 150 questions, chaos mode and your own custom categories, and it supports Family Sharing. There are no ads in either version.

Open Settings in the app (the gear on the home screen) and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy Premium. Family members can do the same on their own iPhones.

English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French, Italian and Polish. Each language has its own deck of words and questions written for it, not a word-for-word translation. The game follows your iPhone's language and falls back to English.

Yes. It is rated 4+ on the App Store. The decks are everyday words such as foods, animals and places, and the questions are light personal ones. The chips are in-game points only: there is no real money, betting or gambling.

No. Imposter is for iPhone. Since the game is played on one phone passed around the table, only one person in the group needs it.

No. There are no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking. Player names, settings and your custom categories stay on your iPhone, and deleting the app removes them. See the privacy policy.
